Welcome to the College of Arts & Sports

Welcome. We hope you find helpful information and make new friends here.  Our desire is to provide a platform with which to connect Christian artists.

If you came to check out possible training schools, find new resources, meet others involved in arts ministries around the world, or to get inspired by what others are doing, we think you’ll find interesting opportunities.

Please contact us with ideas – ideas for new resources we should make people aware of, or ministry opportunities available, or just with comments or questions.

We hope you visit often and come back soon.

YWAM Sports moving forward after the Townsville Gathering

It sure was great to meet so many of you in the September YWAM Together! God sure is on the move in the area of sports in our mission. He seems to be building momentum as we move ahead with the vision he is giving us. And it is great to know we all have a part in that vision. It is not about a small group of leaders creating a bottle neck for the vision. I believe God’s heart for us is to see a broad, God sized vision play out in our lives, ministries and mission around the world.

Some of the things we talked about are really in their infant stage. Very fragile and in need of much care. It will require all of us to help take care of this infant with selfless service and humble sacrifice to help the baby grow. So let’s roll up our sleeves and come together to help feed and nurture this ministry God has given us into the future.

It would be a good place to start if we begin by developing a better understanding of the territory we are heading into. Some of us have been ministering for years in these areas while others are just getting started. It would be good for us all to try and get on the same page in our direction and calling as a mission in sports.

One area I would like to encourage each one of you look into is the global sports ministry network outside YWAM. They have an incredible kingdom minded ministry set up on the world stage. I have been so blessed to get to know this coalition and can’t say enough about their wonderful service in extending God’s kingdom around the world. They offer sports leadership training all over the world. They have a level one and level two training curriculum that is second to none. We have actually incorporated the two courses on to our University of the Nations network.

This year a new ReadySetGO training material will also be released. More than likely there will be ReadySetGO seminars in your country. Please look them up. It would bless you to invite people from this global sports movement to run a seminar on your base. If you want your sports ministry to get a real shot in the arm to advance the sports ministry cause, connect with these leaders and you will be blessed.

Sports ministries is such a huge kingdom calling, it goes way beyond the confines of YWAM or any other single group. We must come together with a kingdom mindset to shoulder the burden as a body. Let’s unite around the throne, placing our callings and vision at the altar before the King. Together we can offer up a fragrant sacrifice to glorify Him.

God bless you for all the amazing things you do in Him. May he continue to guide and direct your steps into the future as you seek to glorify his name in the nations.

Peace, Mitch Anderson

Dean's Corner April 2015

Dear Friends

One third of the year is already past and we have just remembered Easter and the price Jesus paid on the cross in order to save us.  There was a battle at Calvary and satan thought he had won but where is his victory now?  Swallowed up in the victory of the Son of God who promises eternal life and hope to all who turn to Him.

There is a real battle going on continually in the spiritual realm where we experience dry times because of the plans of the enemy.  In this Dean’s Corner Stephen Mayers, the Western European YWAM leader, is sharing more about the spiritual realm so our eyes are open to the history and the on going ploys of the enemy.  He shares stories about the presence of the Lord in His people still today bringing the enemy to his knees.

I pray you’ll be challenged to open your eyes wider to really see Jesus.

Love and blessings,

In His Presence

Stephen Mayers - YWAM Europe Convener

Recently I was asked the question, “What is God saying to YWAM international?”

My response was, “Two things – the first, flattening the organisation and establishing a shared leadership, and secondly, calling us to spend time in His presence".

Time In His Presence

In this season many of our leaders are giving large amounts of time to worship and wait on God in order to love, listen and obey.  How important this is: to give extended, focused attention to the Lord.

Moses was a busy man, with a large community as well as elders of tribes asking for wisdom and counsel.  Yet, in the middle of his incredibly full schedule he gave much time to be in the Lord’s presence.

“As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and hover at its entrance while the Lord spoke with him. … Inside the Tent of Meeting, the Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Afterward Moses would return to the camp, but the young man who assisted him, Joshua son of Nun, would remain behind in the Tent of Meeting.”  - Ex 33: 7-11

YWAM is a very task-oriented, vision-driven mission that attracts those with a spirit of adventure who often have workaholic tendencies.   Since YWAM staff raise financial support we can feel the need to show we are producing fruit.  This is a constant source of pressure.  Yet our YWAM motto encourages our first focus is “to know God” before we “make him known.”  Worshipping God leads us into service but service doesn't always lead us into worship.
