In this update we’d like to feature a little-known treasure in our university arsenal…
The “School of Event Management” is a relatively new YWAM school that prepares you to champion the arts in significant ways. The SEM was pioneered by Julie Spence (Dean of the College of Arts & Sports) in 2003 at the YWAM Kona base in Hawaii. Since then it has been run two more times and is multiplying. Currently the SEM is being pioneered at the Lausanne, Switzerland base, and next year (January 2011) it will be launched at the Harpenden, UK base.
As people created for community we constantly look for ways to celebrate special occasions, both small and large scale. Events draw people together for a common goal, whether that be contribution, celebration, change or transformation. The SEM will teach you how to plan and prepare successful events by connecting the elements of sound, light, stage, webcrafting, promotion, touring, budgets, sponsors, leadership and networking. Whether the event is a church praise night, a sports tournament or an Olympic outreach this school equips you to dream and design events for maximum participation and impact.
Are you eager to make a permanent difference in your community, province, or nation? Are willing to champion arts and sports in the public arena? Consider the School of Event Management… coming soon to a YWAM base near you.
