Our dear team member Jeremy passed away due to a freak accident a month before the outreach. We had green arm bands ( his favorite color) made up with 1.21 ( his favorite verse) from Philippians written on them. We wore them on our time in Asia and they sparked many conversations with tourists, and locals.
We loved meeting the local Asian people, they were so open and friendly. We felt like celebrities as they took pictures of us and stopped to talk with us to practice their English.
We were able to connect with a few local skaters. They took our skate team to a bunch of local spots and seemed to really enjoy spending time with us. On the last night we were there, a few of the guys on the team took them out for dinner and checked out the skate shop in Beijing. They asked the skaters what their favorite skateboards we're and then our guys bought them for the local boys. When we gave them the decks they were in tears. They did not understand why they would do such a thing. We told them that God put it on their hearts to buy them the boards, and they asked who our God was. We explained the best they could, and the skaters we're desperate to hear more about him. They asked if our God spoke their language? Both of them ended the night praying and inviting God into their lives. Before we left we just ‘happened’ to find some local believers who would follow up with our new young friends.
